Its that time of year again!! The world tour in both mens and womens is complete and there are two new World champions.. There is only one thing left to crown! The Riptide bodyboarder of the year! The 2014 Peer poll has been in full swing for almost a month now. And TONIGHT bring the annual awards night in which the winners are crowned!

The riptide awards are based on people voting for who they feel have been the best bodyboarder both through contest and free surfing throughout the year!  We not only get to see the Nominations for best female and male riders but also a variety of category ranging from top Grom, Biggest wave and Biggest manoeuvre and a whole lot more.

This year saw the general public take to voting over a period of weeks for all categorise, once the voting was closed votes were tallied and the top 15 were then selected! This year saw a large mix up of both free surfers and girls on tour.  Isabela Sousa has been travelling the world both free surfing and fighting for a fourth world title on the Womens World tour. She has been Pushing the limits and definitely setting a bench mark for other riders to follow.

Alexander has had an amazing year! Her first ever world title and also being the youngest ever rider both male and female to win the World Title. At only 16 she has so much more to give and the future is looking very bright.

Lilly Unfortunately after a win in the pipe contest in hawaii took a turn for the worse, Breaking her back during a free surf at her local break. This was a set back for lilly but still managed to work hard to recover and see herself recover in time to compete on the second event on the world tour in chile. After a full recovery lilly is back pushing the limits once again.

Jess took a few years off and has came back into bodyboarding better than ever. Her strength and consistency in the water is amazing! She has had some solid results during the world tour and almost clinched her first world title this year after a narrow loss in the final at The Sintra Pro in portugal. Had she won this event she would have take the Prestigious award back to brazil.

And last but not least myself. I’m over the moon to have been voted in the top five. I had a quiet year competing with only getting to one event, Pipleine in hawaii,  at the begining of the year. I spent alot of time this year chasing waves and free surfing as well as spending some much needed time with my family and friends. I look forward to seeing the final result of the Riptide awards and am thankful for the support and voting from all my fellow boogers from around the world.

I caught up with a couple of the riders to get there thoughts on being voted in to the top five
