Toll Victorian Open Series at Cape Woolamai

It was small conditions all round Australia over the weekend an at Cape Woolamai on Phillip Island in Victoria. Although small the swell was just enough to make for some decent competition between the girls.

Local girl Sophie Fletcher from Phillip Island worked hard throwing up a couple of re-entries and wraps in the finals against Piper Harrison and fellow islander Courtney Dunlop to take out the women’s divisional win.

Sophie said after her win, “The surf was 1ft and strong cross-shore westerly winds which made the conditions really hard. In the final I sat in the correct spot the whole heat, I worked it out earlier in the week because I have been surfing there everyday. I also found it handy having the first comp at my local break.”

And on living and breathing surfing on Phillip Island Sophie says… “I love it so much! It’s great because we don’t get the crowds like other places do… One reason is because the winters down here are SO hard! It’s freezing! 4/3 mm wetsuits, booties, hoods! Phillip Island is so beautiful and its awesome for surfers because there are so many different breaks all round the Island!”

Sophie is supported by Aquadiva Swimwear & Archysurf

Congratulations to everyone for surfing their best in the conditions.
