The Vanuatu Surfing Association (VSA) Classic was held over the last 2 weekends due to a change in conditions at Fat-Far the break at Surfside, just outside of Port Vila on the island of Efate.

It’s great to see women’s surfing developing in this island paradise, even in the wake of a cyclone and it’s great that the VSA are so passionate about nurturing the locals abilities and proving a structured event.

Conditions for the finals were 1-2 foot but perfect right handers for the girls to feel comfortable and confident in their turns.

The Open Womens final was won today by Serah John of Pango.

“Serah executed a number of critical manoeuvres keeping her ahead of the other girls. Marine Cugola is probably the most improved of all the girl surfers this year.” says event organiser Brad. “Charley Donchos is an absolute dynamite on the waves, she’s very young but super competitive and committed and we all think will be the one to watch in years to come. She will begin taking surf coaching with Mens Open champion John Stephen this week which will only make her more keen.”

Congratulations to all the girls for an amazing effort and great surfing!
