Smiling Sari Ohhara Wins 2017 Urban Research Tahara Pro
The APB Tour continues and this weekend the girls were in Japan competing at the Urban Research Tahara Pro.
The 3-4 foot conditions saw the world’s best competitive bodyboarders take to the water on the south western coast.
Local Sari Ohhara held early round leads including one of the highest scores of the event with a 9.25 in round three. The Japanese bodyboard legend continued her role round after round.
Ohhara met Isabela Sousa from Brazil in the final where she defeated her to win the event and boost her placing on the world tour leaderboard from fifth up into the top three.
She said after her win, the hometown hero said, “I’m so glad that Isabela and Joana came from their homes to compete in Japan. They looked like they’ve been enjoying their stay. Hopefully seeing the waves and good time we’ve had will draw more people to Japan for this event next year.”
On the conditions, she said, “Fortunately we received a typhoon swell for this contest so there were lots of waves and great conditions for the event.”
And looking forward to the next event Ohhara says “Next is the Sintra Pro in Portugal. It’s the biggest event of this year so I’ll working on staying focused and training hard.”
