Roisin Surfs Through the South Pacific

Mermaid writer and slider Roisin Carolan is currently making her way around the islands of Fiji and Vanuatu with her McTavish longboards, a tough life experience for her!

Apart from surfing uncrowded breaks with tropical water, snacking on the freshest fruits, drinking too many coconuts and relaxing with happy locals who welcome her upon entry to the beach after a delightful surf, Roisin is spending time helping out in some local communities in thanks for use of their amazing waves.

“We’re currently staying in Suva in Fiji but spend the day in Natadola where we hung out with an amazing group of girls who we’re learning to surf. Along with some  volenteeers from the Fiji Surfing Association and the Vanuatu Surfing Association helping out with teaching the girls about the waves and having the most fun. It was great to see such massive smiles on their faces as they took on the white water!” Roisin says.

“In Natadola today there was perfect long white water waves for the girls to build their confidence. There was also a really fun left on a reef a little further out. I’m loving the tropical warmth and the crystal clear waters of Fiji.”

Stay tuned for Roisin’s travel diary as she visits some of the most amazing parts of our untouched world. (spot the 2 Mermaid Trucker hats in the group photo at Natadola above get yours TODAY)
