The ALLIANZ ERICEIRA PRO by ERICEIRA SURF & SKATE is the first event of the Portuguese National surf tour for 2015 over three venues Ericeira, Caparica and Sintra. Held in Ericeira just north of Lisbon on Portugal’s west coast, the event is promoted to embody the spirit of friendship between the surfers out of water and develop competitiveness in the water. The tour sponsored by Moche kicked off today for the year and provides more than 70,000 € (Euros) in prizes to the surfers which is a massive increase of nearly 25 % on 2014.
In this week’s event it was local favourite and tour defending champ of 2014, Teresa Bonvalot who took home the first win in a tight match up against Carol Henriques, Keshia Eyre and Mariana Assis. The conditions were really tricky in 3 foot on-shore waves but the girls got jet ski assist which allowed them to catch a lot of waves and keep up a high energy. Teresa scored the highest points for the final with a 7.25 wave to secure her win.
The UK’s Keshia Eyre lives and trains in Portugal and was part of the event and said the “Moche event’s are super fun and great events for the sport. There’s a massive build up to them and the beach set ups are amazing. It’s all streamed on live TV as well so it draws in a lot of people to watch. The girls here always train so hard for these events so it’s always a good contest and keeps you on your toes.”
All the stages of the Moche National Tour are broadcast live via internet – www.liga.moche.pt; on their mobile app Surf Moche and on national television.
The Allianz Ericeira Pro is sponsored by Moche, Allianz Insurance, Renault, Ramirez, Red Bull, Ericeira Surf & Skate as well as local support from the Municipality of Mafra, RTP, go – s. Tv and Pure Feeling.
