Maxum ASP Women’s Junior Pro and NRMA Surf Classic

Maxum ASP Women’s Pro Junior and NRMA Women’s Surf Classic Prepare to kick off in Cronulla this weekend 21st and 22nd September. The two-day event is also set to encompass a large variety of stalls from local businesses and nationally recognised brands.

The weekend’s conditions look to be smallish with 2-4 foot onshore, south east swell with winds from the south and water temps hovering around 18 degrees Celsius.

2013 runner up Keely Andrew (photographed above Smith/SNSW) has had a great year of results so far and says “I expect to see pretty good performances from Bronte Macaulay (Margaret River, WA/AUS), Sophia Bernard (Manly, NSW/AUS) and Holly-Sue Coffey (Coolangatta, Qld/AUS). All those girls have the skills to take the win. I will just be focusing on getting two waves and taking it heat by heat.”

A lot of the girls have just returned from the QS tour stops in the US and France and are at the top of their game as Australia heads into Summer.

The Maxum ASP Women’s Pro Junior will have $2000 prize-money on offer and vital ASP Pro Junior Series rankings points for surfers vying to qualify for the ASP World Junior Championships in Ericeira, Portugal from October 25 – November 2, 2014.

In addition to the ASP Australasia Junior Qualifying Series (JQS) event, the NRMA Women’s Surf Classic will see some of Australia’s best female surfers participating in a variety of different surfing disciplines including junior and open longboard, shortboard and stand-up paddleboard.
