Lucy Lowe’s TOP 5 Songs of the Sea

By Lucy Lowe

Songs about the Sea have different meanings to everyone. I find it really easy to connect with and appreciate songs or lyrics about the ocean because it’s always been a big part of my life.

To some people it can be a connection in a different way. Relating something to the ocean lyrically can have many meanings, from being powerful, scary, joyful, or peaceful. It can mean anything, and therefore it’s used often within songs. I chose these songs and lyrics about the ocean because they resonate the most with me.

 1. Keep your head up by Ben Howard

‘Walking back down this mountain with the strength of a turning tide”

2. Water by The Beautiful Girls

This song is about missing out on the simple things in life because we are too distracted. One of the most amazing simple pleasures – water.

3. Let’s Go Surfing by The drums

“I wanna go surfing, Obama, I don’t care about nothing”

4. The Sea is Calling by The Temper Trap

Oh, can you hear the sea calling? Calling us into the world

5. Let it be Sung by Jack Johnson

“So let’s just dance, We’ll waltz above the ocean.”
