Joana Schenker Wins ETB Event #1 La Salie Pro France

21st April 2015

As the warmer weather entices people back to the beaches, so does the competition in the water in Europe with the first event of the European Bodyboard Tour (ETB) kicking off at La Salie Beach in France over the weekend. Organised by the Ocean Roots Surf Club the conditions were perfect with both left and right options for the girls in a nice offshore breeze. Swell conditions changed dramatically with the big low and high tides but made for good competition and kept the girls on their toes.

Portugal’s Joana Schenker entered the event fresh off her win at the firs Portuguese event of the season and said “The where a lot of riders with good performances. Two world champions were in the mix with Alexandra Rinder (APB World Champ) and Teresa Almeida (ISA World Champ) which created a great atmosphere.”

Joana continued ‘Alexandra Rinder made the best score of the first round with two good rollos. Anne Cecile Lacoste the local rider and winner of the first round was eliminated in the semi finals. In the final conditions where getting trickier and the wave selection was critical.”

At the end of a good event it was Joana who kept her winning streak alive scoring wave 7.5pt with two good rolls giving her the distance she needed to take the advantage to win the contest. She said after her win “I am very happy with this result and it feel good to start the Tour off with this win.”
