Izzi Gomez Wins 2nd World SUP Title
Izzi Gomez Wins 2nd Consecutive World SUP Title
4th October 2015 – 16 year old Izzi Gomez has secured her second World Title as the 2015 season winds down. It was no easy feat for Izzi, with 4 girls in the running through the early rounds of the US Open of SUP, with a costly mistake in the 1st round, relegating the young Champion to the repechage round. She was able to fight back and march her way through the rounds to take the win here at the US Open of Stand Up Paddling, a win that was enough to secure her the 2015 World Title.
Her progressive and forward thinking approach to surfing helps to drive the sport forward and her energy in and out of the water makes her an inspiration for the upcoming generation. It is exciting times for the women, as the field becomes more competitive and the future looks bright in all respects.
Izzi said after her win via social media “I’m so stoked to share the World Title celebration with Caio Vaz! All of the athletes really stepped up their game this year! I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the sport of SUP! I would like to thank all of my friends, family, and sponsors for cheering me on and supporting me throughout my journey! I really couldn’t do it without you! I cannot thank you enough for making my dreams come true!”
