A great day in the sunshine on Manly Beach, Australia with good results all round but especially for the girls of surfing. The swell conditions all week have been average with small 1 foot onshore conditions but for these athletes anything is possible and you can’t believe what they can do with 1 foot of slush. It makes you so excited to see for real just how good these girls are in the water.

The Girls Pro Junior final was held in the afternoon with the best of the onshore getting into the waves but Isabella Nichols and Macy Callaghan, both from Australia didn’t mind. There were a few lulls in the heat with the girls waiting patiently for a little set to sit up in the distance.

Isabella was all over it she found the right spots to sit and the critical sections to hit, which she did with power scoring herself 2 MASSIVE 9 point rides. (Check out clip) Macy, who has been nearly invincible on the Australian grom circuit this summer just couldn’t find the waves to keep up with Isabella who took the win 19.47 to 12.83.

Thursday 12th February sees the girls QS Round 3 take to the water with all the big names in women’s surfing including Stephanie Gilmore, Sally Fitzgibbons, Tyler Wright, Bronte Macaulay and many more. For more information on the event visit the official Hurley Australian Open of Surfing website.
