INTERNATIONAL SURFING DAY, not just for surfers!

Saturday 20th June 2015 is International Surfing Day
in support of our Oceans, Waves and Beaches.

Launched by The Surfrider Foundation 11 years ago to fall on the Summer/Winter Solstice each year, International Surfing Day involves over 30 countries and hosts over 200 events round the world. Surfers and mermaids round the world join together to celebrate the sport and lifestyle of surfing and surf sports but also allowing us to give back to our ocean, waves and beaches by organizing beach cleanups, habitat restoration and other acts promoting coastal protection.

Surfrider Foundation encourages ANYONE to join in on the fun by starting their own event, finding an event near you, or simply making a donation to support Surfrider’s mission.

The Mermaid Society is, without saying, an avid supporter of foundations who’s role is to actively promote conservation, education and awareness for the protection of our oceans and the place we find solace.

Get behind a Surfrider Foundation event this week, donate on their website or do your thing by paying attention the beach you love; pick up rubbish washed up on the shore and stand up for it when you see others disrespecting it.

Without the ocean we wouldn’t exist.
