Emma Webb Wins Open Longboard Title Aus. Surfing Festival
It was a great day for Victorian girl Emma Webb taking home the coveted Open Women’s Longboarding Australian Title. Coffs Harbour has been the venue of the Australian Surfing Festival for the last 2 weeks and today in perfectly clean two-to-three foot waves. The girls couldn’t have asked for better conditions for their finals day and presented their best moves resulting in some amazing scores.
After some solid scores for all girls in the semi finals there was close competition entering the finals between Emma Webb from Jan Juc Victoria and Erin Dark, from Queensland, who has been back-to-back runner up and posted the highest combined score of the day of 17.75. Erin started the finals with the lead and held it until a sneaky late score from Emma put her in the lead finishing on 15.5 on the buzzer ahead of Dark on 15.0, Kathryn Hughes, Qld who took third and Lara Murphy, NSW in 4th.
“I am so stoked,” said Webb. “At the end of the heat, I thought Erin actually won, so I was massively relieved when they told me my final score was enough to take the lead. I just tried to win with my turns as I knew all the other competitors were amazing at nose-riding.”
