The Duskii Women’s Classic Surf Contest was held at Middleton Bay near Victor Harbour, South Australia over the weekend.

Event organiser and President of the South Australian SurferGirls Surf Club, Cheryl Buck said “The girls worked hard to surf a solid swell throwing out 4 to 5 foot surging waves. They had to rely heavily on their paddling skills to find the peak and best take off position. The huge swell filled the bay constantly and the water movement created difficult conditions. A fantastic effort by all surfers and especially to those competing for the first time, braving the swell and having a go.

13 year old local pocket rocket Yasmin Hardy from Seaford said “The conditions were tough with 20 knot winds and quite a big swell. Everyone was surfing really well all weekend and did a lot to impress the judges who were giving points for innovative and progressive manoeuvres and a combination of flow from top to bottom.”

As the youngest girl in the Under 16s Yasmin nailed her heats and took out the win in her division and was rewarded sponsorship by Beach Apparel. (Yasmin is also supported by Harrop Surfboards)

Special mention to the Under 12’s division for tough it out in challenging conditions with the youngest competitor Tahlia just 9 years old and absolutely shredding.
