Today marks the start of the 2015 Drug Aware Pro at Margaret River in Western Australia. For the 2nd year the World Championship Tour make their way to the beautiful south western coast and take on the Margaret River breaks.

The best thing about Margaret River is that when it’s pumping, the banks hold and the waves are GREAT. And well, this week we’re expecting to see waves between 10-20 foot according to Surfline. The swell will hit on Thursday and be at it’s peak on Friday.

Surfline, official forecaster for the WSL, are tracking pair of significant SW groundswells for the opening few days of the waiting period.

Long range charts indicate that we’ll see a pair of intense storms develop in the Southern Indian Ocean this weekend and into early next week. If these storms behave as forecast we would see a run of significant WSW to SW swell during the first few days of the event waiting period around April 15th-17th and possibly beyond. At this point, local wind also looks generally favorable around that time.

The local girls are sure to dominate the trials and no doubt will be absolutely frothing for the opportunity to mix it up under the wold tour spotlight if they make it into the main event. All the local girls can handle the big stuff and absolutely charge when the swell turns on at Margs. We’re looking forward to seeing Bronte Macaulay (who won the Roxy Pro trials at Snapper) and her sister Laura (Pictured above) take to the water as well as former pro Claire Bevilaqua and Felicity Palmateer. The up and comers Bailee Hastie, Emi Campbell and Mikaela Green will also work hard to make a break into the main event.
