Probably one of the biggest wins of Margaret River girl Bronte Macaulay’s life today as she defeated Kobie Enright to win her wild card into the main event of the Roxy Pro at the world famous super bank of Snapper Rocks on the Gold Coast of Australia.
Bronte has had a number of great results over the last year and tomorrow will be game day for her where all her knowledge and skill will have to come together when she comes up against Stephanie Gilmore and an inform Silvana Lima.
The conditions kept on a steady 3-4 foot swell as they have for the last 2 weeks and they girls had a great choice of waves. There was a great competition vibe on the beach and everything was feeling really alive revving up in preparation for the main event.
We look forward to the first round of the Roxy Pro getting underway with some red hot match ups.
Surfline, official forecaster for the World Surf League, are calling for:
Saturday starts off with modest East swell, but slowly declines through the weekend into Monday. Small surf Monday through Thursday. Then a possible larger mix of South shifting SE windswell and South groundswell over the 6th-8th, but with breezy South veering SE winds. More surf potential after that.
Event organizers will meet tomorrow morning at 7:30am (local time) to assess conditions for a possible 8am start.
The Roxy Pro Gold Coast will be webcast LIVE at WorldSurfLeague.com
