Beach Fit Challenge 001

It has begun, it’s The Mermaid Beach Fit challenge with our very own KATIE WILLIAMS. Take it on with us in your own living room to tone your muscles amp up your fitness and keep your heart pumping and strong.

001 THE PUSH UP CLIMBER

This exercise if performed correctly with a straight back, hands directly below shoulders and chin forward will be a full body work out for your core, upper body and legs. What is called a Functional Body Weight exercise, it is one of the best all over exercises to keep you strong and stable on the beach and in the water. Complete the sets below 3 times this week and stay connected to The Mermaid Society for next week’s challenge.

The Push Up Climber works your whole core region including your abs. As well as your shoulders and chest muscles, your triceps (lunch lady arms), your lats (down the back and sides of your body, and your bum, quads and hammies.

TIP – try to make sure your elbows are pointing back toward your feet to get maximum effort from your triceps. and keep your neck straight and chin forward, don’t tuck it into your chest!

THE CHALLENGE

Beginners – 3 sets (push up, left leg, push up right leg is one set)

Intermediate – 3 sets of 3

Advanced – 3 sets of 10
