Australian Boardriders Battle Tasmania Results
Today was the first round of the Original Source Australian Boardriders Battle in Tasmania at Dark Hollow Beach, Scamander. The finals are held at Cronulla in NSW on the Australia Day long weekend 24th-25th January 2015 for the best club from each state.
Today in Tasmania there were 4 clubs competing for that top spot in the finals in some good looking 3-4 foot waves. South Arm, North East, Park Beach and North West Boardriders Clubs took to to the water with teams of 5 surfers with one under 18 and one female making up the team. This year also sees the inclusion of a women’s division and a 5 person teams division.
South Arm took the lead early with a strong team including James Eaves, Luke Johannesen, Hamish Renwisk, Kyle Cooper Kelly Nordstrom and top mermaid BROOKE MASON. The South Arm team put 8,700 points on the score board ahead of North West. It was great to see such a fantastic group of Tazzie surfers absolutely ripping and representing each corner of the Apple Aisle.
South Arm’s Brooke Mason said “There was such a good vibe and so much comraderie between all of the four teams because Tassie is such a small place and we all know each other and surf together in the state rounds. Our team worked so well together and in the tag team we just nailed it and got everyone out of the water with heaps of time so our power surfer had time to go out again. It was awesome winning as a team because we could share the excitement with everyone and it felt really special. I can’t wait to go to Cronulla! Watch out mainland!”
