The Atlantic Surfing Federation was in full swing over the weekend at Paradise Park in Melbourne Beach, Florida. The conditions for the event were really average and nearly un-surfable. All the unfavourable weather conditions came into play. It was windy and choppy and only about half a foot of swell. There were periods of some bigger shore break waves but nothing too special.

It was really challenging all day and hard to see whos catching what in the chop despite the conditions everyone managed to surf really well especially Avery Avolette who was really strong with her turns in our final heat for the Under 16s and was deserving of her win.

To score big points we really had to be able to get in the waves but they werent holding up very well.  You had to be on your game picking and waiting for the right set and being able to get a carve and snap in when most waves only allowed you one manoeuvre.

Rachel did such a great job to win both the Under 14s and 18s as a 12 year old and the youngest competitor in the contest. Rachel she was stoked with her results. She said “I was looking for waves that were allowing me to do at least 2 decent maneuvers or one big hit. My biggest scores came from waves I got 2 or 3 big tail slides on.”
