The Mermaid Society // Powered By Girls Of The Sea

Empowering and connecting mermaids worldwide by sharing stories and celebrating spirit above and below the water.

The Mermaid Society was established in 2013 as the only women’s ocean sports news and results site world wide. Since then, we have evolved to include a solid representation internationally and in 2017 we are relaunching with new strengths and opportunities ahead of us.

We represent the collective voice of girls of the sea online and in the media. We are a community for those who are spiritually connected to mermaids and all that they embody; strength, beauty, magic, power & mystery. Through the sports of surfing, bodysurfing, SUP, skimboarding, ironwoman, bodyboarding, beach volleyball, kite surfing, wakeboarding, windsurfing and freediving.

The Mermaid Society aims to connect girls of the sea everywhere through contributions by the most enlivening women around the world. We always welcome new contributors who want to have a positive impact on our community and can provide creative and aspirational content.

The Mermaid Society welcomes commercial partnerships to help educate our community with beneficial brand and product knowledge that can improve our experience in or out of the water.

What we stand for;

  • Equality in sport for girls of the sea
  • Conservation of the ocean and all who inhabit it
  • Support and assistance for girls of the sea in achieving their dreams

Our vision is to; Inspire, empower and represent girls of the sea.

We are proud to work with and support the not-for-profit TAKE 3 FOR THE SEA. We donate a small portion of the sales in our Mermaid Society online store to assist Take 3 in taking their message to the world.

Their message is simple and one that we can all implement. “Take 3 pieces of rubbish with you when you leave the beach, waterway or…anywhere and you’ve made a difference.”

TAKE 3 work to deliver education programs to inspire a global community to help create a cleaner planet for wildlife and future generations – Pick it up. Bin it. #TAKE3FORTHESEA

Our social drink of choice is the Bucha of Byron. Brewed in Byron Bay, Australia using the finest locally sourced ingredients, The Bucha is a sparkling, raw, fermented drink, brimming with probiotics and enzymes. For thousands of years people have been drinking Kombucha to promote gut health, aid digestion and liver function – or simply to alleviate a guilty conscience.

Our eyes are one of our most important organs as humans (or mermaids). The effects of UV damage can be devastating and the best way to protect your eyes and your vision with technology that works. After suffering a Pterygium and being subject to looking at the ocean and beach all day I have come to truly value good quality eyewear. Oakley provides uncompromised clarity for razor-sharp focus and glare clarity. Their lenses are top of the line and block out 100% UV radiation that causes sun damage – an essential part of any beach-lovers kit and highly recommended by The Mermaid Society team.

Braven have some of the world’s leading portable, active sound systems and we’re so stoked to be working with them. Not only are their speakers compact they are water resistant, charge your phone and have a sound that will blow your mind. Recently we took the Stryde 360 for a test run in the waves and were impressed by the durability and sound quality in the water.

The guys at Surf Meal Co. have developed one killer surf bar and range of nutritional powders. Finally something delicious to give you the energy you need to have the most productive session out in the water. You can order online for international delivery or find them in selected stores in Australia.
